A look at calf management. Information from Clive Hall Farm - Cheshire's Dairy Monitor Farm - as well as comparison with group member farm Marlheath where the event is being hosted

Speakers:

  • Alana Boulton, Royal Veterinary College, London - feeding for weight gain taking account of age, environment and how best to achieve growth and set targets. The economics and cost of nutrition when rearing young stock
  • Monitor Farmer Phil Asbury, Clive Hall Farm Manager & Ed Dale, Dale Farms. The effect of accurately weighing calves has had on decision making, to include feeding/grouping/management/future performance of calves at Clive Hall
  • Scott Sidwell, Marlheath Farm Manager and Jessica Ross, Youngstock Manager, Grassland Solutions. Overview on calf weights; current practices and proposed action for the future, discussion on calves currently housed at Marlheath
